Lo5 To be able to edit cinematic quality footage/ Final upload of short film

Image
We filmed our footage with cinematic quality equipment such as the DLSR Camera, and the iPhone 13, using these allowed us to get clear interesting shots that were shot at 24fps at HD quality. We purposely shot in areas that had loud lighting and good acoustics so that the video and audio quality was professional and up to standards of similar products; this proved to be difficult in some scenes. For example, when shooting the first scene of the film some of the shots we're too bright from the sun. This made our attempts at making a low angle shot very difficult as the sky behind the character was way too bright. However, we were able to fix this error in post using vfx as we desaturated the scene and added more blue colours into it, which made the quality of the shot seem more professional. Furthermore, during one scene the wind in the background was awful, which ruined some of the shot as you couldn't hear any of the character. We fixed this in post by editing the audio in the...

Lo4 To be able to record cinematic footage/ Rushes of footage

Image
Rushes from different scenes we filmed over the last 3-4 months   This rush is from scene four, in which Ellis's character kills Toby's character. To show how our footage met generic conventions of similar products. We have used slow panning camera movements and interesting shots similar to the About a girl short film which we studied before hand. Plus, we used shocking shots similar the 'About a girl', such as Toby's death scene' To highlight conventions of the similar dramatic movies that inspired us. Films like blue story have similar scene in which main characters die in order to convey emotion and dramatise the growth in knife crime. Which we wanted to parody within our film. Similar to this, we used natural lighting techniques and used contrasted lighting by filming Ellis in shade and Toby in bright sunlight to show Binary opposition within the story.  Furthermore, when Ellis goes towards Toby's dead body, the shot is completely within shade, which ma...

Lo3.1 Write a short report to identify what settings you will be using in your unit 5 short film

Image
To ensure we achieve cinematic quality footage, We must utilize the settings that are present on the DSLR, and smartphone camera. We are planning on making our footage darker using the ISO settings in the camera to match the themes of the story. This will match with the ambient lighting that we will be using within scenes that feature Ellis's character. This is to show the audience how his character has become corrupted by the seven personalities. Similarly, scenes that include Toby's character will be more saturated. Plus will we use natural lighting, and film specifically when its sunny, to shower his character in light, too connote to the audience that he is a good person. We will film our product at a constant 24 frames per second as that will make our product look realistic enough, while also being less demanding on storage. Using the iPhone 13 camera we will have the ability to use the new cinematic feature. This will allow us to included depth of field meaning we could m...

Lo2 Lighting and settings

Image
The three point lighting system: This is the traditional way of lighting an object or person in a scene, Three light sources are placed around the object or person in a triangular position. This setup is the best way of getting professional lighting within a product. The three types of light included in the three point lighting setting are the: .Key light -  The key light is the first and usually most important light that a photographer, cinematographer, lighting cameraman, or other scene composer will use in a lighting setup. The purpose of the key light is  to highlight the form and dimension of the subject . .Fill light -  This light is meant to fill the remaining unlit space to bring out further detail of the subject.  .Back light -  Sometimes referred to as a “rim light” or “hair light,” this final light in the three-point setup is meant to define the outline of the subject to emphasize three-dimensionality. Lighting is the most important part of getting re...
